The kids loved the boat cruise and the Van Gogh Museum!

It was a really nice day out for our entire family. My wife and I had time to admire the paintings, and the kids had fun discovering work by Vincent van Gogh. They were on some sort of treasure hunt and had to find specific details on each painting. Later, they were busy coloring „The Bedroom in Arles“ paper prints. During the canal cruise, the special audio story made for kids kept them occupied and engaged. In the meantime, we adults were sipping coffee and enjoying the views of famous canals. We all had a good time!

Boris
Canal cruise and a visit to the Van Gogh Museum is a must!

I am grateful I explored Amsterdam's cultural heritage for an entire day. I planned ahead and reserved a time slot to visit the Van Gogh Museum, but I didn't have to do it for the boat tour as it was an open ticket. It was surprising to see the works by Vincent van Gogh in person; some paintings seemed smaller, and some larger than I expected. "Wheatfield with Crows" is the one painting that stood out for me. It was one of his last, and you can almost feel the ominous emotions he experienced while painted it. The canal cruise was also fun, and I learned much from the audio guide. If you're in Amsterdam, going on the canal cruise and visiting the Van Gogh Museum is a must.

A CHANCE TO SEE THE LARGEST COLLECTION OF VAN GOGH

Use the Van Gogh Museum entrance tickets to explore the life and work of Vincent van Gogh. This famous Dutch artist is a household name worldwide, and you have a unique chance to see the largest collection of his artwork. There are around 200 paintings and more than 460 drawings and sketches on permanent display. This includes some of the most important works by Vincent van Gogh, such as the iconic "Almond Blossom", "Sunflowers", and "The Potato Eaters". Among the highlights are also five self-portraits that reveal his emotional states - joy, sadness, and struggles. Did you know that his career as a painter lasted less than 10 years? He was a late bloomer, and we can only guess how many wonderful paintings he could have made had he lived longer.

AN INSIGHT INTO THE LIFE OF VINCENT VAN GOGH

The life of an artist always influences their work, and Vincent van Gogh was no exception. Mental health issues had a massive effect on his art, and he made a conscious effort to improve his well-being by dedicating the rest of his life to painting, which he saw as a sort of therapy. However, things weren't that simple, especially in those days when such issues were stigmatized by society. During your visit to the Van Gogh Museum, you will have a chance to peek inside the tormented soul of this world-famous artist. For example, his numerous letters to his brother Theo reveal much about his innermost thoughts; you will see them displayed in the museum.

A BOAT TOUR AROUND AMSTERDAM'S CITY CENTER

Embark on a cruise through the famous canals and explore Amsterdam from the water. Gliding past the landmarks, you will see a unique blend of modern and 17th-century architecture. During the boat tour, you will sail through the Herengracht, Keizersgracht, Prinsengracht, and Singelgracht canals, which form Amsterdam's Canal District. The Dutch term for this canal network is Grachtengordel, and they have been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 2010. Some of the landmarks that you will see include Westerkerk, the Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House, and Negen Straatjes, as well as the bridges such as Magere Brug, Blauwbrug, Torensluis, and numerous others! During the boat cruise, you will benefit from an informative audio guide and learn intriguing details about each landmark.
